                 PowerPoint Presentation
-----------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: Because of the nature of the game Jeopardy!, the terms "question" and "answer" are often confused. Throughout this template and these instructions, the term "question" refers to the Jeopardy! answer (which contestants respond to). The term "answer" refers to the contestants' responses (phrased in the form of a question).

III. Setting up the categories, questions and answers

Because each category appears multiple times in the game, rewriting each slide by hand would be very tedious. Instead, use the "Replace..." function under the "Edit" menu. To do so:

1. First, choose your five categories. Keep in mind considerations of space on the game board for printing the category names.

2. Under the "Edit" menu, choose "Replace..."

3. In the "Find what:" box, enter "CATEGORY X", where X is the number of the category (1-5). Be sure to keep the capitalization.

4. In the "Replace with:" box, enter the category name (in all capitals).

5. Click "Replace" to fill in each question one by one. (You will have to click "Replace" every time.) Click "Replace All" to fill in all of the questions automatically. NOTE: You should be told that 3 replacements were made.

6. Dollar values are already set at $100 to $500, as in the first round Jeopardy. To set up a Double Jeopardy round, use the "Replace..." feature and replace each dollar value with its double value.

7. Each question and answer slide will have to be redone manually. To add the question, click on the "Insert Question..." text, delete it, and replace it with the question.

8. Repeat the above with each answer. NOTE: The answer slides are grouped together after the question slides, so when entering the questions and answers, make a note of the category and dollar value of each to make sure that they match up.

9. Be sure to add the Final Question and Final Answer on the appropriate slides.

IV. Setting up the Daily Doubles

NOTE: In the television show, the single Jeopardy round uses one Daily Double and the double Jeopardy round uses two. You may choose to use either or both as you wish. The Audio and Video Daily Double slides are to be used if you have audio or video/picture files to include in the question slides. IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH ADDING SOUND OR PICTURE FILES TO A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION, IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU NOT USE THESE FEATURES.

1. Choose which dollar value(s) will be the Daily Double(s). Find the question slide that you will be linking to, and remember the number of the slide (on the status bar at the bottom, "Slide ## of ##").

2. Go to the Game Board Slide (Slide 8), and right-click on the dollar value. Choose "Hyperlink" and choose "Edit Hyperlink".

3. In the "Edit Hyperlink" window, go to "Named location in file" and click "Browse..."

4. In the "Hyperlink to Slide" window, scroll down to the appropriate Daily Double Slide (Slides 64-67). Click "OK".

5. Go to the Daily Double slide you just linked to, and right-click once on the Right Arrow icon. Choose "Hyperlink" and choose "Edit Hyperlink".

6. In the "Action Settings" window, make sure the button to the left of "Hyperlink" is selected; in the select box underneath "Hyperlink" choose "Slide..."

7. In the "Hyperlink to Slide" window, scroll down to the appropriate question slide. A preview of the slide linked to will appear on the right. Select the slide number, and click "OK".

V. Using the Scoreboard Slide

The Scoreboard slide will allow you to keep score during the game. It will not always be visible, but is accessible from each answer slide, the Daily Double slides, the Game Board, and the Final Jeopardy slides.

1. There is space for three contestants; replace "Contestant X" with their names in the appropriate boxes.

2. To change a score, click on the score itself. (An internet browser finger will appear as the cursor.) The scores are kept as Microsoft Excel worksheets; clicking on a score will bring up a miniature Excel worksheet.

3. As soon as the worksheet appears, type the new score.

4. Close the worksheet by clicking the Close box (X) in the upper right, or going to the "File" menu and choosing "Close & Return..."
